FreeFileSync Business Use and Licensing

This is an independent overview, not a sales or licensing page. Confirm current prices, rights, device rules and edition features with the developer before purchase or deployment.

When Business Edition matters

The developer’s current FAQ distinguishes private personal use from use by legal entities and commercial or governmental environments. A company should not rely on an old blog post or a copied license summary.

Deployment planning

Test the exact edition on representative Windows devices. Document installation, configuration location, service accounts, network-share permissions, log retention, notifications, update ownership and recovery procedures.

Unattended synchronization

Silent installation and scheduled jobs increase operational risk when failures are not visible. Use a dedicated test share, least-privilege account, logs and alerts. Verify restored files, not merely job completion.

Security review

Validate software provenance and signature, restrict configuration editing, protect credentials and review any cloud or SFTP authorization. Do not place secrets directly in broadly readable scripts.
